Call of Duty – Ghosts

In 2013 I was lucky enough to be involved in two big projects for the well known computer game “Call of Duty”. For the first project, “Call of Duty – Ghosts”, The Mill was tasked with producing 18 challenging in game cinematic sequences. I was responsible for the destruction FX work on one of the cinematics – “Deer Hunt”.
I used Houdini to create the Explosions/dust rings/debris that you see in the above cinematic. Using Houdini’s delayed load procedural workflows and point instancing allowed me to reuse a few explosions to populate an entire landscape at render time and made for a smooth and efficient workflow.
